Code of Conduct

At BECU, we believe everyone should feel accepted and connected to the BECU community. We are committed to creating a safe and welcoming environment for all of our members and employees. We expect fair, respectful treatment and acceptance of people from all backgrounds.

We strive to represent the broad diversity among our membership and the communities we serve. We believe that leveraging our differences, whether it be in background, perspective or thought, is critical to our success in delivering exceptional value and service.

Acts of discrimination and harassment are taken very seriously and we will not stand for bias and/or racism. We will not tolerate these behaviors from members and will promptly address disrespectful and inappropriate actions or comments that negatively affect our employees and/or other members. Should any employee, member, or other individual experience the behavior(s) outlined below, we will actively engage to understand, and seek a timely solution.

The following will not be tolerated and may lead to consequence up to and including closure of account(s) and removal from membership (i.e., expulsion):

Harassment that is based on protected status*, is sexual in nature, or harassment in general such as; discriminatory slurs, jokes, negative stereotyping, racial, ethnic or religious epithets, and written or graphic material that shows hostility to an individual or group

Verbal or Physical Threats

Demonstration of perceived disruptive and/or aggressive behavior or dialogue, including bullying behavior, such as:

  • Interfering with, destroying or damaging BECU property to include desk items, workstation, tools or equipment, or other interference with an employee's ability to perform their job;
  • Name calling

Threatening to use any type of weapon

Comments, actions or behaviors that are designed to embarrass, humiliate, intimidate, disparage, demean, or show disrespect to an employee
