At BECU, your financial health is our priority. That's why we've partnered with GreenPath Financial Wellness to provide members access to free, one-on-one financial counseling.
GreenPath is a national nonprofit, dedicated to helping people lead financially healthy lives. BECU members can turn to GreenPath's certified experts for help with managing through a variety of financial challenges.
All GreenPath services are free of charge to BECU members.
How Greenpath Can Help
BECU members can receive assistance with:
Comprehensive budget and money management advice, including ideas to increase income and reduce expenses.
Credit report review
Help evaluating a credit report, learning how to dispute inaccurate information, and help put together an action plan to improve credit score.
Help with understanding financial situation and goals, explain debt management options, offer recommendations for how to get out of debt and develop a personalized action plan to meet goals.
Debt management plan
Help developing a structured repayment plan, which can stop collection calls, lower interest rates, lower monthly payments, and waive late and over-the-limit fees, and bring accounts current.
Student loan counseling
Help evaluating student loan repayment options and strategies, including personalized payment plans.
GreenPath is approved by HUD to assist with pre-purchase home buyer preparation, reverse mortgage counseling, and foreclosure prevention.
Collection of online courses, videos, games, articles and more to help manage money wisely.
All sessions are conducted over the phone. When you call, you'll get immediately connected to a financial wellness expert. The first session will take about 45 minutes and everything discussed is confidential.
No prep work is required, but one of the first things a counselor will do is put together a budget. Having an idea of one's income and expenses is helpful. If you have billing statements handy, even better.
The first session takes between 45 minutes to an hour. However, the time it will take will also depend on your unique situation.
Yes, all sessions are delivered via phone. In-person appointments are not available for GreenPath Services in partnership with BECU. GreenPath does not have local offices in the state of Washington.
No appointment is necessary. There will be immediate access to a financial wellness expert when you call.
No, GreenPath pulls a credit report free of charge. They cannot provide you with your credit score. However, BECU offers you access to your FICO credit score for free through your online banking profile. Or, visit www.annualcreditreport.com if you would like to access your credit score.
All information is secure and confidential. GreenPath will not share information with anyone without permission. They do not report to the credit bureaus.
Yes, GreenPath is accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA), a member of the National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC), a member of the Financial Counseling Association of America (FCAA), and a national housing counseling intermediary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
Monday - Thursday: 6 am - 8 pm PST
Friday: 6 am - 5 pm PST
Saturday: 7 am - 4 pm PST
BECU also offers a free Financial Health Check to members looking to get a better understanding of their financial health and get real-time help utilizing effective money management practices and tools to save and avoid debt.
